Premieres at the festival Glasperlenspiel 2010
New works by Tõnis Kaumann and Peeter Vähi will be premiered at the festival Glasperlenspiel 2010, additionally the 60th anniversary of Lepo Sumera will be celebrated with a separate concert. Glasperlenspiel will take place in Tartu from 15 to 20 July, the artistic director of Glasperlenspiel festival is Peeter Vähi and artistic advisor Risto Joost.
The Symphony by Tõnis Kaumann will be premiered at the Opening Concert of Glasperlenspiel. Additionally the concert programme includes music by Peeter Vähi, Joaquin Rodrigo and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The music will be performed by Tallinn Sinfonietta and guitarists Slava Grigoryan from Australia and Rémi Boucher from Canada, conducted by Risto Joost. The Opening Concert of Glasperlenspiel will be on Thursday, 15 July at 8 pm in Tartu St John's Church.
The premiere by Peeter Vähi will be for bells of Town Hall, keyboards, percussions and wind instruments, performed by Orchestra of Estonian Defence Forces, conducted by Peeter Saan. The concert Brass Echo will take place on Saturday, 17 July at 5 pm at the Tartu Town Hall Square.
The 60th Anniversary of Lepo Sumera will be celebrated on Monday, 19 July at 9 pm in Tartu St. John's Church. The programme of Anniversary concert includes chamber works as well as music from the chamber opera Olivia's Master Class. The performers are Tallinn Sinfonietta, soprano Janne Shevtshenko, Kadri-Ann Sumera on synthesyser and piano, reader Peeter Volkonski, conducted by Risto Joost, along with Jüri Tallinn (video), Siim Allas (lightning, from theatre Vanemuine) and Peeter Vähi (sound engineering).
