We’ve waited a long time to have the ensemble Collegium Novum Zürich perform at the festival. Our long-awaited guests have even added two new pieces from Estonian composers into their programs - Märt-Matis Lill’s „Mõttelained"("Waves of thoughts") and Kristjan Kõrver´s „Quasi una litania”. The latter is the concert’s only solo piece and is all the more special because it is written for just one French horn... and yet, most orchestration textbooks inform the young composer of the technical difficulties of playing this instrument. Kõrver has accepted the challenge and overcome the difficulties. The opening concert places Estonian music’s freshest fruits in the context of contemporary European musical culture.
