Closing Concert for the Competition of Psalm of David
On Wednesday, 10 February at 7:30 pm in Pirita Monastery there will be a closing concert for the competition of Psalm of David. 
Work by Mirjam Tally premiered in Stockholm
On Monday, 8 February, the work Winter Island by Mirjam Tally will be premiered in Stockholm. The work will be performed by trio ZilliacusPerssonRaitinen, comprising Cecilia Zilliacus (violin), Johanna Persson (viola) and Kati Raitinen (cello), three musicians who have played together since 1999. In addition to the work by Mirjam Tally, music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Jean Sibelius is programmed. The concert will take place at 7 pm in a Stockholm venue Nybrokajen 11. 
New Work for Oboe by Tõnis Kaumann
The oboe player Riivo Kallasmaa and pianist Kadri-Ann Sumera will bring out new program as Tartu New Music Ensemble. The program includes the premiere of Valet for solo oboe, composed by Tõnis Kaumann in 2008. Additionally they plan to perform two Estonian pieces: A Measure of Happiness for oboe by Timo Steiner (1999) and Invitation to Dance for piano (2001). The program also includes Moments amicaux by Thomas Daniel Schlee, 12 Notations by Pierre Boulez and Sonata for oboe and piano by Henry Dutilleux. 
Anne-Liis Poll and Anto Pett Will Perform a MonoOpera
In the evening of 23 January at 5 pm in Tallinn Art Hall, two musicians and improvisators, the singer Anne-Liis Poll and pianist Anto Pett will co-operate to perform a musical work that will be completed in real time. They call it a Mono Opera. People who are interested in music and art will have an extraordinary opportunity to be present while the original musical work is created. The work is based on free improvisation and its duration is 45 to 50 minutes. The music is created in the process of movement; instead of text, the singer uses the language of sounds and syllables. During last year, the musicians have exponed their new genre also abroad - in Warssaw, Moscow, Glasgow, Vienna, Udine. 
Premieres at the Joint Concert of Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Soloists of Tallinn Music High School
On Thursday, 21 January at 6 pm, there will be a joint concert of Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the soloists of Tallinn Music High School at the White Hall of the House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads. This concert will be conducted by Risto Joost and the program includes several premieres. 
A Premiere by Mihkel Kerem at the Tallinn Chamber Orchesta concert
On Thursday, 14 January 2010, Mikk Murdvee will conduct a program with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra where the new version of Lament by Mihkel Kerem for viola can be heared for the first time (soloist Mikk Murdvee). Originally this work was been written for cello and orchestra. 
In Spe Concerts in Tallinn and Tartu
In Spe, the ensemble initiated by Erkki-Sven Tüür, will perform again 30 years after starting in 1979. The ensemble performs with all the musicians that were initially included in In Spe: Erkki-Sven Tüür, Anne Tüür, Mart Metsala, Toivo Kopli, Arvo Urb, Riho Sibul and Peeter Brambat; the concert line up additionally includes friends Jaanus Nõgisto, Jaak Tuksam and Lauri-Dag Tüür. The concerts will take place on 7 December at 8 pm in the small house of Theatre Vanemuine, Tartu, and on 9 December at 8 pm in the grand hall of Puppet Theatre, Tallinn. 
Premieres in the Repertory of Resonabilis
In the concert programme rePRESSION of the ensemble Resonabilis, new work Signum Magnum II by Kristjan Kõrver will be premiered, additionally Tightrobe Walker, recently composed by Tanja Kozlova, will be performed, also several works that have not been heard in Estonia before. Ensemble Resonabilis performs with the programme rePRESSION on 24 November at 7 pm at the Tartu Cultural Factory and on 25 November at 7 pm in Theatrum, Tallinn. 
New Ochestral Work by Mirjam Tally in Malmö
On 18 November, the new orchestral work Spring: Hommage à Joseph Haydn by Mirjam Tally will be premiered in Malmö Palladium. The work will be performed by Malmö Chamber Orchestra and members of Contemporary Ensemble, conducted by Alexander Einarsson. 
Premieres by Tõnu Kõrvits in Finland and France
Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir brings new piece Ääni joka katosi to Finnish and Estonian audience. Additionally the silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc by Carl Theodor Dreyer can be seen at the festival Les Boréales in France with new music written by Tõnu Kõrvits. 
The Netherlands Chamber Choir Performs a New Piece by Helena Tulve in France and Netherlands
The Netherlands Chamber Choir performs the new piece I Am a River by Helena Tulve in its concert programme La voce femminile. Helena Tulve's a cappella choir piece was created for the text by Turkish poet Mawlânâ Jalâluddîn Rûmî, translated to English by Nevit Oguz Ergin. The work was premiered on 22 September at Morteau Notre Dame Church in Besançon International Festival. The concerts have also taken place in Besançon (Kursaal) and Sochaux (France), additionally in Leeuwarden, Holland. There are still two concerts left in Holland: on 1 October at Gouda St. John Church and on 2 October at Utrecht St. Peter Church. 
Estonian Music Days 2009
16 - 24 April, 2009
Along the 2009 Festival about twenty composers will bring forth their new compositions, which will be performed in Tallinn at the Estonia Concert Hall, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, St. Nicholas Church, Tallinn Town Hall, Tallinna Methodist Church etc. The chief performers will be the Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen (Denmark), Collegium Novum Zürich (Switzerland), Silver Ainomäe, Jan Lehtola (Finland) and many others. EMD also celebrates 30 years since the first Estonian contemporay music festival in 1979.
